More information about the 2017 Hyundai Elantra: The Elantra competes with other compact cars such as the Toyota Corolla, the Ford Focus and the Honda Civic in one of the most competitive segments in the United States. With so much competition, prices are kept relatively low despite every manufacturer trying to outdo one another with their features and amenities. The redesigned 2017 Elantra is no different, offering a bevy of new features after its redesign, while actually entering the marketplace with a base price that is $100 less expensive than last year's model. Of course, as always, Hyundai offers one of the best warranties in the business, with a 10-year/100,000 mile warranty offered on every Elantra sold. Interesting features of this model are premium features on the Limited model, fuel efficient engines, Refined driving experience, and good use of interior space
The Hyundai Elantra gets two brand new efficient engines for 2017. The base engine is a 2.0L 4-cylinder unit that produces 147 horsepower which is mated to either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual. Hyundai have pulled out all the stops to decrease pumping losses and increase efficiency, with resulting mileage ratings of 29 mpg city and 38 mpg on the highway. An optional 1.4L turbocharged engine will launch midway through the 2017 model year. It's even more fuel efficient, producing a still stout 128 horsepower while making more torque than the standard 2.0L. The only transmission choice for the smaller turbocharged engine is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. Hyundai estimates about 35 mpg in combined city and highway driving for the more advanced drivetrain. The 2017 Hyundai Elantra comes in one of two trims, SE and Limited. In keeping with their philosophy of offering top value for the money, the SE comes relatively well equipped for the segment. Standard features include projector beam headlights with daytime running lights, power exterior mirrors, power windows, remote keyless entry, a 6-speaker CD/MP3 player, SiriusXM satellite radio and a 6-way adjustable driver's seat. Limited trim adds nearly $5000 to the base price, but includes everything needed to transform the Elantra from a compact, to a compact luxury car. It looks the part too, with the Limited trim featuring 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, automatic headlights, an intelligent hands free trunk, side mirror mounted turn signals, chrome exterior door handles with LED lighting and a blind spot detection system with rear cross-traffic alert. Step inside the Limited and drivers are greeted by leather seating surfaces, a 7-inch color touchscreen for the audio system, dual USB ports, a rearview camera, a powered driver's seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic temperature control and a 3.5-inch TFT multi-information display. Several option packages are available on the Limited as well. A tech package features an upgraded 8-inch navigation system, an 8 speaker stereo, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a built in garage door opener and a compass, a sunroof and heated rear seats. The Ultimate Package meanwhile, includes HID headlights that will swivel to look around corners while turning, an automatic emergency braking system, radar controlled smart cruise control, a lane departure warning system, a memory system for the seats and automatic high beams.
