The 2011 Subaru Forester comes in five trim levels. The 2.5X models get a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder boxer that makes 170 hp. The XT model utilizes a turbocharged, intercooled version that makes 224 hp. The base and Premium models have a standard 5-speed transmission, while the Limited and Touring models come with a 4-speed electronic transmission. A slew of standard safety features come with every Forester, such as vehicle dynamics control, traction control, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, tire pressure monitoring and airbags all around. The Touring model also has a standard back-up camera, which is available for the Premium and Limited models as well. A 10-way power adjustable seat is standard on all but the base model, as are reclining rear seats, an auto up/down power window for the driver, and audio controls on the steering wheel. All models have air conditioning, 60/40 folding rear seats, under-floor storage in the cargo area, and stereo system with CD/MP3/WMA playback and an audio jack. The Premium trim upgrades the stereo to include iPod controls and a USB port, while the Limited adds two speakers for a total of six and the Touring has a 7-speaker system, both with Bluetooth and an integrated back-up camera. The All-Weather Package, which includes a windshield wiper de-icer, heated side mirrors and heated front seats is standard on the Limited and Touring and available for the Premium model. A navigation system with 7-inch screen is available for the Limited and Touring models too, as it works with the more advanced sound systems.
